Sorry for stretch­ing out the cliff hanger of Thursday’s post. I found out early Friday that all grades are in and I will be grad­u­at­ing! The relief of this is tem­pered by the latest news on Dre’s dad. In order to pre­vent the infec­tion in his foot from spread­ing the deci­sion has been made to ampu­tate his big toe. This is what is known as a metatarsal ampu­ta­tion. While it is dras­tic, the other option are even more so. So we are hoping for the best. The oper­a­tion is ten­ta­tively sched­uled for Monday. That will be fol­lowed by heal­ing time and phys­i­cal therapy.

So this Thanks­giv­ing will be espe­cially event­ful for the amount that (hope­fully) we will have to give thanks for.

Things are very tense! I am one grade away from grad­u­at­ing and I do not know if that grade will be deliv­ered in time. I just found out that I got an “A” in my photo course. Which rocks, and means that I got a 4.0 at the Uni­ver­sity of Chicago for Spring Quarter.

How­ever, my Lan­guage in Cul­ture grade is still not in. And if it does not get in, I do not grad­u­ate. I’m just a wee bit tense over this, as a lot is riding on that grade. Or rather the grad­u­a­tion. Which is riding on the grade. So I guess the first state­ment was right.

Things with Drea’s dad are also com­plex right now. To attempt to sum it up in a sen­tence or two would be a mis­take. There is going to have to be surgery. We are wait­ing to learn how rad­i­cal it needs to be.

Still wait­ing to see if my prof’s get the grades in. This is really frustrating.

Also we had to take Dre’s dad to the hos­pi­tal for prob­lems with his remain­ing foot. I’m not sure where this is going to go this time.

There is job news, but I’m not shar­ing until things are a bit more offi­cial. There’s still a number of con­tin­gen­cies at play.

Lan­guage in Cul­ture -> Done
Photo and Film Theory -> Done with a near heart attack (I forgot to attach the final… every­thing is cool now as far as I can tell).

My last Chicago paper is in. Its all but done. Lots to share in the days ahead.
