<description>I graduated from RIT with an AAS in 1974. I took two semesters of typography with Archie Provan (he made a special dispensation so I could take a class in the School of Printing that Design students didn't usually take). I fell in love with the art and will never forget the man. He had a profound affect on me and my life. I'm a book/publications designer and writer now living in Seattle. I try to find clients who appreciate the quality of the text typography and not just the splash. I've found a few.
I've been trying to find out about Archie; I am assuming he is still alive. It was nice to read your post and how highly you regard him. He is one of those special people we will never forget. I'd love a response if you are still in contact with him.
