Associate Content Manager
8/2001 - 9/2004
kodak.com, Eastman Kodak Company
Rochester, New York
I managed the largest content creation project in the history of kodak.com: building a consumer photographic education site. I worked with kodak.com’s Content Manager to research, create, and present the economic business case for the development of this learning content to Kodak’s Upper Management. I researched and developed a content plan based on the analysis and synthesis of end user and business unit needs. I coordinated the development of content by a mixed team of internal and external resources including copywriters, photographers, a content consultant and an interactive agency. In the process I developed a content organization procedure that allowed the assets to be easily chunked and loaded into a document management system and published to the web. As a result I also developed and presented training materials for these business processes.
Highlights included:
- Managing the creation and maintenance of over 200 pages of educational content targeting consumer photographers. These pages consist of over 800 individual, reusable, text chunks, over 450 illustrations, and more than 15 Flash files, translated across seven languages.
- Managing a $500,000 Launch Budget and a $25,000 maintenance budget.
- Conducting regular update meetings with corporate Presidents and Vice-Presidents.
Community Implementation Manager
9/2000 - 8/2001
kodak.com, Eastman Kodak Company
Rochester, New York
I managed the implementation and day-to-day maintenance of kodak.com’s consumer community site and services. The community’s goal was to create a gathering place for visitors to discuss and share photographs, inspiring them to take more pictures. The community’s tools included moderated discussion forums, a 24x7 chat room, and live, auditorium style events. The role also included managing communications between kodak.com and Live World Inc (our community application provider), overseeing the production efforts of the community team, monitoring discussion boards and collecting and analyzing data to chart community progress. After the community program was suspended, the role shifted to participating in the planning of and discontinuation of services. This process included selecting a new discussion forums vendor and making significant contributions to a comprehensive debrief of the community project that was presented to Kodak’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Highlights included:
- Producing numerous Live Events featuring noted photographers including Howard Bingham, Dennis Reggie, Jodi Cobb and Bob McNeely, and Oscar winning cinematographer Peter Pau. During these events where Q&A sessions where participants could ask questions of the guests and view samples of their work. The sessions generated illustrated transcripts that were then archived, allowing thousands of visitors to read them.
- Overseeing the creation of a hybrid discussion forum that integrated the kodak.com Picture Center Bin to allow users to easily add pictures to their posts.
- Implementing a discussion board to support the kodak.com BirdCam, which continues to be a vibrant, active community to this day.
- Receiving 2 patents for inventions and business process developments that grew out of the community program.

Digital and Applied Imaging, Eastman Kodak Company

I developed the plans for a Gen-Y community website to support the launch of the Kodak MC3 Portable Multimedia Device (a digital still & video camera that also played MP3 files). The project entailed conducting and analyzing research to create a comprehensive proposal and business plan for a site where members could share pictures, video, and music. The documentation included resource plans for implementation and ongoing maintenance, an outline of relationship marketing and community programs, and recommendations for strategic partnerships and e-commerce initiatives to support the site. This also involved a delivering a number of presentations to Kodak Corporate Vice Presidents.
